Select the Help option within the Saxophone Practice Partner menu to view descriptions of its main functions. Further details about each feature of the app are given below:
Tap on the text in the header to choose a piece to practise.
Tell Saxophone Practice Partner which part(s) to play by switching either of them on or off.
Use the playback button to play and pause Saxophone Practice Partner.
Press stop to reset playback to the beginning of the piece.
Set a loop to practise a specific section repeatedly.
Open Speedshifter for more playback controls to:
- switch speed-shifting on or off
- set the tempo of speed-shifted playback
Why is there no option to switch on the guide for some recordings?
A guide has been provided where there is a long rest in one or both hands, or where there is a difficult change in tempo. Some pieces do not feature either of these so do not have a guide option.
When I try to update or install the app on my iOS device I get a message saying “Cannot download”. Why is this?
Due to the intensive realtime audio processing used in Piano Practice Partner, the latest version of the iOS app is currently only available for 64-bit devices. (For a full list of these devices please refer to the iPiano Practice Partner page in Tunes.) We are actively working to expand the range of devices that will be able to access this update and hope to provide more news on this shortly. Please keep checking this page for updates.
The playback skips/jumps on my Android device? Why is this?
The Android version is available for any device running version 3.0 (Honeycomb) or above, but due to the intensive realtime audio processing used in Piano Practice Partner performance may not be optimal on older or less powerful devices.
When you run Saxophone Practice Partner, ABRSM gathers anonymous usage statistics such as session length, country, user profile and device type. This is done using Flurry, an analytics toolset. The data ABRSM receives from Flurry does not allow us to identify you personally.
ABRSM uses data gathered through Flurry to benchmark the usage of the application. This means that we regularly look at these statistics to evaluate our products and inform development. Note that we do not track your unique device identifier (UDID) or other personal information through Flurry – this data is anonymous.
